How To Clean Your Vornado Air Purifier

A Clean Purifier Is An Efficient One

Introduction

As an owner of a Vornado Air Purifier, you’ll be more than aware of the many benefits and year-round comfort that it provides.

Your Air Purifier’s job is to effectively filter dust and other pollutants from the air so you can rest easy knowing you’re breathing the freshest air possible - but that relies on it always running efficiently.

To ensure this happens, it means you’ll need to give your Vornado Air Purifier some TLC with some regular cleaning and maintenance.

Cleaning

It’s important to maintain your Air Purifier so to ensure that it’s running at peak efficiency, always keeping the air throughout the room as clean as possible.

Due to its sleek and compact design, cleaning your Vornado Air Purifier is super easy, and it can be done in three simple steps.

Step 1 – Unplug

Unplug the unit before cleaning.

Safety always comes first, so it’s always best to ensure there is no power running to the Air Purifier unit before getting started with cleaning and maintenance. Even if the power is turned off at the switch, completely unplug from the wall just to be safe.

Step 2 – Exterior

Start by wiping down the outside of the unit.

Vornado’s sleek design allows you to easily wipe down each side without having to worry about trying to clean various nooks and corners on the outside of the unit. To ensure that you’re not scratching or damaging the exterior of the Air Purifier, always use a soft, water dampened cloth.

Do not use gasoline, thinners, solvents, or other chemicals for cleaning, as these can cause damage to the outside surface of the Air Purifier, or worse if used inside.

Step 3 – Interior

Now that the outside of the Air Purifier has been cleaned, it’s time to look inside.

Remove the front panel by simply lifting it up and away from the rest of the unit. This is held in place by strong magnets, so you’ll need to put a bit of effort into removing the panel.

Once this is off, remove the plastic frame that holds the filters in place by pulling on the centre tabs. With the front panel and filters removed, you’ll have easy access to the inside of the unit.

Dust or vacuum the interior (including along the sides) before replacing the filter frame and the front of the unit.

And that’s it - you’re done!

Filters

As you’ll need to open up the Air Purifier and remove the filter frame as part of the regular cleaning process, it’s recommended to clean the unit whenever you’re changing the filters.

We’ve written a whole article about changing the filters in your Air Purifier, that also includes a breakdown of the types of filters and how often each should be replaced.

You can purchase replacement filters for your Vornado Air Purifier here.

Storage

A common misconception about Air Purifiers is that they are only useful during allergy season, but the reality is that there are a range of health and comfort benefits for using one all year long.

Whilst they can be used all year round, there may be extended periods of time when your Air Purifier is not in use and needs to be stored. As dust is the natural enemy of an Air Purifier, it’s best to keep the unit stored inside the box it came with when not being used.

Conclusion

Regularly cleaning your Air Purifier as per the above steps (and as per the user manual included in the box) in addition to regularly changing your filters as necessary will ensure your unit is running at peak efficiency, all year long.
